Emirates to Upgrade to a B777 in July

Now that Emirates have come online from Dublin to Dubai with seven flights a week, and Etihad continue with 10 flights a week to Abu Dhabi, there are now 17 flights a week from Dublin to the United Arab Emirates, equating to 4,279 seats per week or 222,508 seats per annum.

Meanwhile, Emirates has just announced that it will upgrade the current Airbus 330 (with 237 seats) to a Boeing 777-300ER (with 360 seats) from 1st July. This will mean a further increase of 861 seats per week, bringing the annual total to 241,798 seats from both carriers – and this is a one-way total only.

This capacity ex-Dublin certainly presents a major challenge to the other carriers, both on and offline, who operate in the Irish market.
