easyJet announced today that it will be flying over 90,000 passengers, up by 10% on the same date last year across 1190 scheduled flights as they travel for the great Christmas Getaway on its busiest day of the period on Friday 21 December 2012.
In the week preceding 25 December, easyJet will operate 4898 flights carrying over 730,000 passengers as many fly home to spend the period with loved ones and others opt to spend Christmas abroad away from it all.
The busiest destination from Belfast International Airport is London with passengers enjoying easyJet’s choice of four London airports and many now using the newest London airport – Southend. Many passengers will be experiencing easyJet’s fully allocated seating service which was rolled out network-wide on 27 November this year in response to customer feedback, for the first time as they travel over the holiday season. The single biggest change in the airline’s history to date is proving to be a big success with easyJet’s passengers with over 70% already agreeing that the move has contributed to a better boarding experience.
Ali Gayward, easyJet Head of Northern Ireland commented:
“The week in the run-up to Christmas is always one of the busiest for easyJet and we’re flying even more passengers this year than last. We’re delighted that so many have chosen to fly with us to reach their loved ones or just to take a well-earned break and recharge their batteries away from home and bring in the New Year
