Dublin Airport will have almost 1.5 million extra seats across its route network this winter season, representing a 13% increase in capacity compared to last year. Three new services will operate: Aer Lingus added Liverpool to its route network recently while Ryanair is now flying to Amsterdam and Lublin.
In addition, 13 services that started during the summer will operate this winter schedule for the first time. Capacity and frequency will also increase on a number of routes.
“Dublin Airport’s winter schedule has strengthened significantly with the addition of 16 new services providing even more choice and flexibility for our customers,” said Vincent Harrison, Dublin Airport Managing Director. “This is set to be the busiest winter season in the airport’s 75-year history with a great selection of ski, sun and city break destinations.”
Passenger numbers at Dublin Airport have increased by 15% so far this year, with more than 19.2 million passengers using the airport during the nine months to the end of September.
“There is much to look forward to already next summer with six new routes/services already announced and Greek airline Aegean set to enter the Irish market for the first time,” added Vincent.
New routes/services announced for next year include Aegean to Athens, Aer Lingus will add Los Angeles, Newark and Connecticut to its route network, while Thomson will fly to Cancun, Mexico, and Montego Bay, Jamaica.
More than 2.5 million extra passengers have been welcomed at Dublin Airport in the first nine months of the year.
Dublin Airport was one of the fastest growing airports in Europe in the first half of the year and had the highest passenger growth of any airport its size in Western Europe in August, according to the latest monthly traffic figures from ACI Europe. Passenger growth at Dublin has continued at three times the rate for Europe as a whole.
