Dubai Tourism, in conjunction with Emirates Airline and Kerzner International Resorts, brought Arabian flavours to the first night of the Travel Counsellors Ireland annual conference held at Fota Island Resort in Cork from 18th – 20th April. The delicious Arabian buffet included a traditional mint-flavoured drink that everyone found most refreshing.
Welcoming the delegates, Ingrid Aagesen, Senior Manager for the Government of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said: “Dubai had a phenomenal year from the Irish market in 2012, with Irish visitors increasing by 36% and with the average length of stay increasing to six nights. This shows that our focused message of affordability, family and culture is getting across – and this will continue in 2013.”
Lee Barker, Account Director – Leisure Sales of Kerzner International Resorts, presented the group’s Atlantis The Palm and One & Only resorts and asserted that: “Nobody operates a hotel like a Kerzner hotel.”
Eileen Penrose, Sales Executive with Emirates Airline, revealed that a fam trip to Dubai exclusive to Irish Travel Counsellors will be held this September, with five Travel Counsellors being selected from a ‘Challenge’ to be held in June or July. A lucky draw was also held among the Travel Counsellors attending the conference for two additional places on the fam trip – and the winners were Kathy O’Sullivan and Niamh Quinlan.
