Thailand is focusing on its new Discover Thainess campaign to increase international visitor numbers to the Kingdom nation and aims at presenting the unique character of Thailand through seven key characteristics: food, arts, way of life, wellness, festivals, wisdom and fun. It includes a calendar of special events and festivals throughout 2015.
In 2013 Thailand had reached an all-time high of 26.55 million international visitors, making Thailand the most visited country in the ASEAN region. However, political events in the kingdom caused a blip on the tourism radar.
Now that stability has returned, 2015 is showing great promise and bookings are looking good. Nearly 70,000 Irish visitors visited the kingdom last year.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand is organising three trade workshops in Ireland this month. These are in Belfast on Tuesday 24th February, in Cork on Wednesday 25th, and in Limerick on Thursday 26th. At each venue one lucky travel agent will win a place on a forthcoming fam trip to Thailand.
