Dublin Airport is Winter Ready

daa Chairman, Basil Geoghegan, confirms Dublin Airport’s “Winter Readiness“. The daa issued a statement in response to comments made in the Dáil during Leader’s Question Time.

daa Statement on Winter Readiness

daa Chairman Basil Geoghegan stated:

“Notwithstanding current sub-zero temperatures, Dublin Airport’s Winter Readiness Plans have meant that all runways and taxiways at Dublin Airport have remained open and fully operational throughout.

Whilst flight cancellations and delays over recent days relate to difficulties encountered by individual airlines de-icing their own aircraft or airports being closed in the UK, the Taoiseach made an important point today about the need for winter resilience. Such operational resilience is ultimately reliant on ensuring an appropriate regulatory and financial framework that recognises the critical role Dublin and Cork airports play in the Irish economy and global connectivity.”

Travel Advice & Impact of Other Destinations

For travel advice, check out Dublin Airport’s website – here. Dublin Airport tweeted yesterday “Dublin Airport is open and fully operational today. Weather disruption in the UK continues to impact on flight schedules, with 8 outbound flights & 10 inbound flights cancelled so far. Passengers due to fly are advised to contact their airline for info regarding their flight.”. As such, while the airport may be fully open, weather conditions elsewhere may impact flight schedules.

Don’t worry, Santa has extensive experience flying in icy and snowy conditions at the North Pole, as does his team of expert reindeer so the current cold spell will not impact his journey on the 24th of December.
