Cork Airport has welcomed the announcement that CSA Czech Airlines will launch a new route from Cork to Prague for summer 2015. The new route, which will operate twice weekly on Friday and Mondays from Cork and Thursdays and Sundays from Prague, will add an additional 13,000 seats available to and from Cork Airport next summer.
Welcoming the important new route announcement, Cork Airport Managing Director, Niall MacCarthy said: “This announcement is an excellent development for Cork Airport and the passengers we serve. We welcome the decision by CSA Czech Airlines to restart their operations from Cork in response to strong consumer demand for additional flights from Cork Airport for summer 2015. This new route will be hugely beneficial for tourism and business across the wider south of Ireland region.
“We look forward to working closely with CSA Czech Airlines to develop our relationship and seek out further opportunities for expansion. The people who support Cork Airport as Ireland’s second largest airport, serving 2.2 million passengers annually, demand greater connectivity and this decision by a network carrier such as CSA Czech Airlines is a welcome boost and we look forward to further announcements of expansion and growth on our route network in 2015.”
Jozef Sinčák, Chairman, CSA Czech Airlines, said: “After a year planning cuts we are to expand the existing transport network of Czech Airlines in the summer season of 2015. In the new destinations we see an interesting business potential of which we would like to take full advantage.”
Cork Airport is the international gateway to the south of Ireland. Welcoming over 6,000 passengers a day, and more than 11,000 passengers a day in peak season, it is the country’s second busiest and best connected airport after Dublin. More than 2.2 million passengers travel through the airport each year, flying to over 50 destinations across the UK and throughout continental Europe. Cork Airport was voted best in the world for passenger satisfaction in the ACI Regional Airport Survey in summer 2013 and was the winner of the inaugural Irish Aviation Authority award for Customer Service this year.
