Cork Airport has welcomed today’s announcement that CSA Czech Airlines will launch a new twice-weekly route from Cork to Ibiza for summer 2015. The route, operating from 11th June to 21st September, will add over 8,000 seats to Cork Airport’s schedule.
Niall MacCarthy, Cork Airport Managing Director, said: “The addition of Ibiza to our summer schedule is great news for passengers in Munster as this is an exclusive new route for the region. Ibiza is incredibly popular and we are delighted that CSA Czech Airlines has added the Cork route in response to strong consumer demand.
“Ibiza, which attracts six million visitors each year, has so much to see and do, it has some great towns to explore, fantastic beaches as well as plenty of secluded coastlines. It is an island rich in heritage, with Ibiza Town recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Of course, it also offers the younger holidaymaker some of the best nightlife around.
“This announcement is an exciting development for Cork Airport and we look forward to working closely with CSA Czech Airlines to develop our relationship and seek out further routes. Cork Airport is Ireland’s second largest airport serving 2.1 million passengers annually and we look forward to further announcements of expansion and growth in 2015.”
Jozef Sinčák, Chairman, CSA Czech Airlines, said: “In addition to the Cork to Prague route recently announced, we are delighted to add Ibiza to Cork Airport’s list of destinations. This is great news for the airline and will have an interesting potential of which we would like to take full advantage.”
