Citywest Hotel Invests €13m in Expansion and Upgrade

The Citywest Hotel planned investment of €13 million is well underway and will see a substantial upgrade to the hotel’s facilities. The investment follows Citywest’s acquisition in 2014 by Tetrarch Capital, an Irish-owned property firm, whose hotel and leisure division, Tetrarch Hospitality, operates and manages the 764-bedroom hotel.

An upgrade of all of the hotel’s already spacious and well-appointed bedrooms is well progressed. The public bars were tastefully refurbished earlier this summer and plans to open a new restaurant will coincide with the refurbishment of the lobby, lounges, and all public areas by the end of 2016. Construction of new access roads and an expanded car park has already been completed.

The hotel’s facilities also include a championship 18-hole golf course and 20-metre indoor swimming pool, all in a woodland setting just off the N7 and just a 20-minute drive from Dublin city centre and Dublin Airport.

Citywest Hotel is enjoying a rapid phase of growth with stronger occupancy levels and corporate events contributing to increased revenue of 20% last year. This has required a staffing increase of 20% over 12 months, with a team of 420 now employed at the hotel.

John O’Farrell, General Manager, Citywest Hotel said: “We are absolutely delighted with the upgrades being made to the hotel as part of this substantial investment. We pride ourselves in offering the highest quality stay to all of our guests. Under a new management team and new ownership, the hotel has been transformed into the preeminent destination to hold events with style and scale.”

Tetrarch Hospitality is the new division of Tetrarch Capital that manages Citywest Hotel and several other leisure assets, including Mount Juliet in Co Kilkenny, Killashee House Hotel in Co Kildare, and the Dawson Hotel in Dublin.
