Congratulations to Cathy Burke, General Manager of Travel Counsellors Ireland, who is celebrating her 35th year in travel this week. Interestingly, in a recent clear-out at home, Cathy found a job confirmation letter from her first ever employer at Noel Martin Travel. The family-owned travel agency was located on Abbey Street in Dublin where Abbey Travel is today.
Cathy said: “I have had a fabulous career so far. I love this industry and literally grew up in it. Today I want to send out a big ‘Hello’ and ‘Thank You’ to all the people that I have worked with other the years. I have to say that I have met some great people and found some lifelong friends along the way.
“This industry has given me some amazing memories and the chance to see the world – and I have seen some interesting changes during my career and a shift in what clients want. I have really enjoyed adapting to the ever-changing climate and no company has allowed me to do this more than Travel Counsellors. I can’t quite believe that it has been 35 years – I only feel old when a young Travel Counsellor reminds me that they weren’t even born when my career began!”
Travel Counsellors would also like to congratulate Cathy on her achievements and dedication to the travel industry in Ireland. Her unfailing energy and enthusiasm has given many travel professionals the ability to enjoy the industry again.
