The Catalan Tourist Board brought the fabulous wines of the Catalan region to the Cliff Townhouse in Dublin for the travel trade to sample the delights of their very drinkable product.
Vicenc Capdevila, Director – UK & Ireland, Catalan Tourist Board, was on hand to host the proceedings and told ITTN that visitor numbers from Ireland to Catalonia were reaching unbelievable levels – 225,000 Irish visitors in 2015 and a 60% increase in this number in the first six months of 2016.
The excellent wine tourism product was expertly presented by Rainer Brusis and Rachel Ritchie (above) who brought us through the wonderful scenery and architecture of the vineyards in the 12 regions that make Catalonia a special wine producing area going back centuries.
Torres and Priorat wines were among the star turns enjoyed by all who attended on the night. All agreed that the wines of Catalonia can stand comparison with any wines from around the world.
