Private tour specialist, Captain’s Choice has launched a new Egypt trip itinerary set to include a visit to the country’s new Grand Egyptian Museum.
Officially opened just this weekend, the Grand Egyptian Museum is one of the world’s largest archaeological museums – housing around 100,000 ancient artefacts covering 7 million years – and is being viewed as one of the most important cultural openings in decades.

Located close to the Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza, the museum includes the entire contents of the tomb of King Tutankhamun; featuring his gold mask, throne and chariots.
Captain’s Choice’s trip takes place in September of next year and goes under the title A Journey of the Gods.

The 16=day journey begins in Cairo and is guided by top Egyptologists, seeing hidden parts of the Great Pyramids, the Khufu Ship and even the feet of the Sphinx, as well as an expert-led tour of the world’s largest institution dedicated to a single civilisation – the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum.
Guests then embark on the Sanctuary Nile Adventurer for a river cruise to Aswan, stopping at remote and lesser-visited sites including Hathor Temple, Tell el-Amarna, El Minya, Beni Hassan, and Sohag. After the cruise there’s a charter flight to the massive Temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel. At every stage the group is small (max 55 guests) and stays incorporate high end residences, including the refined St Regis Cairo.
For those seeking a longer adventure across the Middle East, Captain’s Choice offers two remarkable journeys that complement their Egypt itinerary and are designed to be booked together. Before Egypt, guests can explore Jordan’s Ancient Customs & Civilisations, uncovering the wonders of Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea. Afterward, the Desert Sands & Monuments of Saudi Arabia journey reveals the country’s striking contrasts, from the Red Sea coast to the awe-inspiring rock-cut monuments of AlUla.
