Hosting a lunch at Fire restaurant in Dublin yesterday to launch the Betabeds B2B bed bank on to the Irish market, Emma Lelliott, Head of Sales & Operations, told ITTN: “We recognise, particularly after the various bed bank collapses in recent years, that a key issue for travel agents is that of financial protection. We are currently negotiating supplier failure insurance and I expect that this will be in place by the end of the month.
“In addition, www.betabeds.com offers travel agents preferred agreements and bespoke payment terms, as well as exclusive agent training and educationals.”
After Jacky Bedlow was appointed Chief Executive of the B2C Alpharooms site in 2015, Emma Lelliott joined to create Betabeds (pronounced beta as in alpha, beta…!) as the company’s B2B trade arm, and this was launched in the UK on 18th April 2016. In October this year, Alpharooms was taken over by Truly Travel Ltd.
Emma (above with David O’Hagan, Donabate Travel) added that Truly Travel had enabled Betabeds to “double our offering overnight to more than 250,000 hotels in 40,000 destinations worldwide. We have direct contracting team, including 10 in resorts, and we offer late availability and bespoke contracting and exclusivity. We now also have a London base as well as our head office in Sheffield.
“Betabeds is full integrated for XML with TravelTek, Multicom and Top Dog, we will soon be adding Vibe, and we are talking with Digital Trip.”
