Best Family Destination in the Med

With the sun that warms all year round, a pleasant, mild climate ideal for enjoying open-air activities, and the numerous options it offers, the Costa Daurada is the ideal holiday destination for families. Story 1

A tranquil, welcoming resort area, it guarantees safety, peace of mind and quality services for parents and never-ending fun for the children.

The Costa Daurada is like a toy box, a gateway to the most enjoyable adventures. Within a range of a few kilometres there are fine, golden sand beaches, beautiful mountain areas, attractive long walks, charming villages and cities with magnificent historical monuments – and they all have activities and programmes specially designed for the youngest members of the family.

This specialisation in offering outstanding family holidays can best be seen in the resorts of Salou, Cambrils, Vila-seca – La Pineda Platja and Calafell, all of which are officially certified by the Catalan Regional Government as Family Holiday Destinations.

Summer is when the Costa Daurada reaches its maximum splendour. On the coast it offers a multitude of services on its beaches, including water sports, children’s playgrounds, swimming pools, offshore floating platforms, sports zones, water parks, etc.

In the towns you will find cinema in the open air, theatre, storytellers, workshops, mini tourist trains and special guided tours of historical monuments. Inland, you can take advantage of the long summer days to go cycling, horse riding or hiking and see beauty spots, fabulous panoramic views, caves, etc. You can learn about the area’s fascinating history and hear stories that will fascinate the children.

The magic is guaranteed all year round on the Costa Daurada. You can gallop at high speed on the back of a dragon in PortAventura, experience life as it was for the Romans two thousand years ago in Tarragona, see the landscapes that inspired universal geniuses such as Gaudí, Miró and Casals in Reus, Mont-roig and El Vendrell, explore castles in Calafell, pedal along the long seafront promenades of Salou, Cambrils and La Pineda Platja, relive the day-to-day life of the Palaeolithic in the caves of L’Espluga de Francolí, stroll through the vineyards of El Priorat or La Conca de Barberà, or walk around the mediaeval walls of Montblanc, just like true knights and princesses. It won’t just be the children who will have a great time – mums and dads will also have an unforgettable holiday.

When you are booking clients to the Costa Daurada, be sure to check the events calendar to make sure they do not miss any of the great festivals and events. From 14th – 30th June, for example, the
Fiesta of Sant Pere in Reus
, which has been declared of national interest by the government of the Generalitat, takes place around the Feast of Saint Peter and statues of the patron saint of the town are paraded through the crowd-thronged streets accompanied by representatives of local folklore (including figures of giants and dragons). There are also displays of human tower building, concerts and dances.
