Ryanair Passengers Hit as Charleroi Airport Cancels All Flights Due to Strike

All flights in and out of Charleroi Airport, near Brussels, have been cancelled as the airport’s ground handlers’ strike has gone into a second day.

“A joint union strike has been announced at Charleroi Airport. All flights scheduled for this Friday are cancelled,” Charleroi Airport said in a statement, advising passengers to not go to the airport but to contact their airline.

Charleroi is a major European hub of Ryanair and its main base for flights in and out of Belgium.

Ryanair said that it was forced to cancel a lot of flights as a result of the strike action.

The airline said affected passengers travelling to and from Brussels South Charleroi have been notified about cancellations.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by this local ground handling strike, which is beyond Ryanair’s control,” Ryanair added.
