Belfast International Airport Returns to Pre-Covid Health with 5.9 Million Passengers in 2023

Belfast International Airport has recovered to pre-Covid health, with newly-released figures showing it served 5.9 million passengers last year and started 2024 with a growing list of destinations.

Included within annual traffic results for parent company VINCI Airports, Belfast International’s figures represented 95% of its pre-pandemic 2019 numbers. Furthermore, there were almost 50,000 total aircraft movements at Belfast International during 2023, which was an increase of 23% on 2022 figures.

The start of 2024 has seen both Ryanair and EasyJet expand their services from Belfast International; with new Malta and Porto, and Tunisia and Larnaca routes respectively.

Graham Keddie, Managing Director, Belfast International Airport said: “These figures are extremely positive and clearly show Belfast International Airport’s continued strong recovery. We are expecting a busy year ahead with an extensive range of destinations available as well unveiling our new security building in Summer 2024.”
