Belfast City Airport Formally Publishes 2040 Master Plan

Belfast City Airport has formally published its final Master Plan for the airport’s development and growth up to 2040.

The publication follows an extensive period of public consultation.

The development plan – the draft version of which was published last September – includes extended terminal and airfield facilities, improved public access and offerings, such as EV charging facilities and commercial development including hotels.

It also envisages growth to accommodate 7 million passengers per year, a £1.7bn boost to the Northern Ireland economy the doubling of jobs and the potential to unlock up to £200m in private investment.

Belfast City Airport said: “This feedback has been carefully reviewed and has helped inform the Masterplan, which outlines a clear and responsible framework for the airport’s development to 2040, ensuring we can continue to support connectivity, economic growth and employment while operating in a way that benefits our local community and delivers against our environmental responsibilities.

“We are delighted with the strong levels of support from our local community, elected representatives, businesses, passengers, trade bodies and airlines.”
