APG & Irish Travel Trade ‘Made A Difference’ At Dog Shelter For APG Day 2024

Each year during May, APG celebrates APG Day which is a day where each member of the company comes together with some of their clients to do something worthwhile in their community. This year’s theme was “Making A Difference“.

On Friday 24 May 2024, APG Ireland’s Celene Duffy, along with members of the Irish travel trade, visited and helped out at a new dog shelter in Finglas, Co. Dublin – The Dublin Dog Hub. The shelter was recently opened by Linda Martin as a passion project.

Celene was joined by Deirdre Maher & Jenny Maher representing Tour America and April Meehan representing Best4Travel, who spent 3 hours at the shelter this morning. The day began with feeding the dogs, followed by cleaning out the 20 kennels which is done by the team on a daily basis and involves mopping the floors, cleaning down all of the kennel walls, and changing water bowls and beds.

Celene commented that “it was hard work but very rewarding and it gives you a new appreciation for the kind of work these wonderful people do.

When the hard work was over, the team had the opportunity to take some of the dogs out to play and feed them some of the suitcase-load of treats they brought along for them!

The hub currently has twenty dogs all looking for their forever homes you can view the dogs on their Instagram page ‘Dublindoghub’.
