American Holidays’ Cruise Department has expanded over the past decade, selling cruises iconic sailing itineraries varying from tropical Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaiian Islands, Canada and New England, Bahamas and Bermuda, to name but a few.
Astrid Johnston, Cruise Product Manager – Dublin and Belfast, is excited to be celebrating this milestone. Astrid and staff have been there from the start and have seen the demand for cruising from the Irish market grow and grow.
Astrid said: “After returning from a travel agents familiarisation trip on a seven-night Western Caribbean Cruise out of Miami, Florida, I fell in love with cruising. Back in August 2003, John Devereux, our Managing Director, and myself spoke about setting up a dedicated Cruise Department, which very quickly grew from a one-man show to the successful Cruise Department that it is now 10 years on. I put this down to having a wonderful team of experienced cruise experts who are as passionate about cruising as I am still today.”
John Devereux added: “Astrid has done a fantastic job in promoting cruising for American Holidays over the past 10 years. The key to the success of our Cruise Department has been to develop a team of dedicated staff who are passionate about cruising. Our cruise suppliers, particularly Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises, have been incredibly supportive in developing our expertise and in helping us promote and market our cruising programme.
“Cruising is now firmly established as a must do holiday in the Irish market and I am delighted that American Holidays has played a significant role in developing the market over the past 10 years.”
