River cruise operator AmaWaterways has announced a major fleet expansion plan, with it having lodged an order for eight more ships, which will take its total fleet size to more than 40 ships.

Currently, AmaWaterways has a fleet of 33 ships – with the fleet sailing on itineraries in Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia and South America.

AmaWaterways Chief Executive, Catherine Powell, said: “Our expanding fleet is a direct response to the strong demand from guests to discover river cruising and Europe’s beautiful rivers. With each new ship, we will continue to sail our guests to the heart of every destination while delivering the high-touch service, elegant design and immersive experiences that define AmaWaterways.”
