Airline Alliance SkyTeam Appoints Diego Larrea VP of Digital Operations

Global airline alliance SkyTeam has appointed Diego Larrea vice president of its digital operations and strategy.

Mr Larrea will lead efforts across the alliance to accelerate digital transformation, strengthen technological collaboration and deliver more integrated, customer-centric solutions.

He will oversee SkyTeam’s central Digital & IT organisation, closely collaborating with member airlines to advance innovation and digital strategies that enhance connectivity, efficiency and the customer journey in global aviation.

Mr Larrea succeeds Laura Abraham and joins SkyTeam from member Delta Air Lines, where he spent more than 16 years driving major initiatives in commercial and distribution technology, digital innovation and customer experience. Originally from Córdoba, Argentina, his career has spanned Japan, Mexico and the United States, giving him a global perspective on airline operations and customer experience.

Patrick Roux, SkyTeam CEO, said: “With Diego Larrea aboard, we will strengthen our digital capabilities in ways that matter most to our members and travelers. His leadership comes at a pivotal moment, as SkyTeam marks its 25th anniversary and embarks on the next chapter. With Diego’s guidance and vision, we will continue to invest in shared technology that connects our alliance, delivers value for every member and creates an even more seamless customer experience. As we welcome Diego, I would also like to thank Laura Abraham for her contributions to SkyTeam and wish her all the best for the future.”

Mr Larrea said: “I am honoured to join SkyTeam as we shape the alliance’s digital future. My ambition is to build a platform where our member airlines can accelerate transformation by sharing best practices and exploring emerging technologies responsibly. Together, we will reduce inefficiencies, enhance experiences and maximize investment impact—helping each airline go further, faster, with less risk on their digital journey. Looking ahead, I want SkyTeam to be known for eliminating legacy constraints, embracing innovation and delivering digital journeys customers love.”
