Aer Lingus to Introduce Travel Agent Portal

Outlining in Istanbul Aer Lingus’s development of a Travel Agent Portal, John Keogh told conference delegates that Aerlingus.com provides 80% of the airline’s total booking and is a prime distribution channel for short-haul business. It is aimed to introduce the new portal in the second quarter 2013.

“We are now developing our Travel Agency Portal as part of our e-commerce roadmap, in conjunction with Datalex,” he said.

The portal will offer:

  • Abillity to book individuals and groups
  • Ability to shop using: Publicly available fares on long- and short-haul network; Private fares where applicable; Multicity; Pricelock; Deposit (USA); Promotion codes; Vouchers

It will also enable fulfillment of the airline delivered ancillary services, eg. assigned seating, baggage and sports equipment, etc, as well as payment using standard card payment options and couchers.

“In summary,” he concluded, “the Travel Agent Portal will:

  • Build on our engagement
  • Improve our communication
  • Leverage this channel to develop the opportunities in the market
  • Provide the best service and offers possible to our mutual customers
  • Grow the business to our mutual benefit.”
