Aer Lingus will cease operating its Dublin to London Gatwick route at the end of March, following a review of the route’s performance.
It is the only route being pulled by Aer Lingus. No passengers travelling on the route up to the end of March will be affected, while those booked after March 31 will be contacted by Aer Lingus and offered a refund or alternative flight.
There will be no impact on staff at Aer Lingus despite the decision.
Ryanair jumped on the news by announcing what it called “rescue” fares on its Dublin-Gatwick route, starting from €19.99.
