Aer Lingus Regional Takes Off for Doncaster-Sheffield

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, launched the first flight on its new route from Dublin to Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield in the UK on Friday.

The addition of the Dublin to Doncaster Sheffield route brings to 26 the number of routes served by Aer Lingus Regional for the summer season, and follows the recent introduction of the Dublin to Newquay route and will be followed by Birmingham to Shannon next month.

The new route is operating five times weekly with fares from €24.99 one-way including taxes and charges.

Doncaster passengers flying to Dublin will be able to connect to the Aer Lingus transatlantic services to New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto. Dublin Airport offers USA-bound passengers immigration and customs pre-clearance services, meaning that there are no border checks upon arrival in the USA, thereby avoiding potentially long queuing times. Dublin and Shannon are the only airports in Europe to offer this service.

All flights to and from Doncaster Sheffield will operate from the Aer Lingus hub at Dublin Airport’s Terminal 2.

This summer Aer Lingus Regional will operate 640 flights per week across 27 routes in Ireland, the UK and France.

Boarding the inaugural flight, Ronan Whitty, Head of Revenue Management, Stobart Air, said: “We are delighted to add Doncaster Sheffield to the Aer Lingus Regional schedule and we are looking forward to welcoming the first passengers onboard today’s inaugural flight. The new route means that Aer Lingus Regional now serves 20 key destinations across the UK, Ireland and France, and reflects the ongoing success of our franchise partnership with Aer Lingus.

“We are also particularly excited to be able to offer our customers based in South Yorkshire an easy, convenient and great value way to connect to Aer Lingus’s transatlantic services to the USA and Canada via Dublin. This will save customers hours of travel time and queueing in US airports by availing of US customs and border pre-clearance facilities in Dublin Airport prior to boarding.”
