Aer Lingus has unveiled #socialjet, an aircraft that will be used to promote Aer Lingus’s Twitter and Facebook in order to drive the number of fans and followers on each social media platform. The idea was born from an internal staff suggestion scheme examining creative ways to promote the airline’s presence on social media.
The aircraft is emblazoned with graphics which span six metres wide and 1.3 metres high and features slogans including ‘Have you liked us yet?’ and ‘Have you followed us yet?’ along with the @AerLingus Twitter handle and Facebook.com/AerLingus link. The #socialjet logo is just under window level.
The unique aircraft will help to raise awareness and use of the hashtag #socialjet as the plane flies across the UK and Europe with exposure to thousands of existing and potential Aer Lingus customers.
To date, Aer Lingus has had just over 6, 500 followers on Twitter and over 24,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook. Both channels have been fully resourced to handle customer queries with thousands of questions and comments from customers answered.
Aer Lingus is now active on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Pinterest and moves towards fully integrating social media with the web and customer service experience as these channels develop.
