Aer Lingus Jumps 8 Places in AirHelp Top Airlines List

Aer Lingus has ranked as the best Irish airline – in terms of passenger service quality – in a new study.

The annual ranking, by leading air passenger rights organisation AirHelp, shows Aer Lingus in 32nd place with a score of 6.93 out of 10. That represents a jump of 8 places for Aer Lingus from last year when it was ranked 40th.

But, AirHelp said there remains scope for Irish carriers to improve their scores. Ryanair ranks 54th in the latest AirHelp standings, with a score of 6.33. That sees the airline drop two places in the yearly rankings.

Both airlines rated poorly in the area of claim processing.

Tomasz Pawliszyn, CEO of AirHelp, said: “The 2024 AirHelp Score for airlines is designed to act as a snapshot of airline performance, evaluating each airline’s strengths and areas for improvement. There is always scope for airlines to improve in the rankings each year, using the score to help guide them. At AirHelp, we support passengers in understanding their air travel rights and help them receive the compensation they may be entitled to.”

More than 100 of the world’s leading airlines were ranked on punctuality, customer opinion and claim processing.

Brussels Airways was ranked number 1 with an overall score of 8.7 for claim processing. Last year’s top airline, Qatar Airways, slipped to second place in this year’s list. Qatar ranks particularly high for customer opinion, with a score of 8.9 out of 10. United Airlines and American Airlines are joint third on the list with total scores of 8.04.
