Aer Lingus has quietly, and without any prior notice, raised the administration fee charged at the end of an Internet booking from €10.00 per person to €12.00 per person – a 20% increase, while Ryanair is increasing baggage fees by 50%.
Aer Lingus has also increased the lounge access fee from €15.00 per person one way to €20.00 per person, an increase of 33%. The airline declined to comment when asked about these increases.
Meanwhile, Ryanair is introducing a 50% increase in baggage fees from €20.00 to €30.00 per item for the busy holiday summer season.
Presumably, such increases are not what Transport Minister Leo Varadkar had in mind when he said he expected a quid pro quo for the Government’s removal of the travel tax!
