70% of Irish Holidaymakers Planning to Travel Off-Peak to Cut Down on Costs

As much as 70% of Irish holidaymakers are planning to travel outside of peak times in a bid to save money on their holidays, according to new research.

The study, by Irish travel insurance firm Multitrip.com, shows that as much as 95% of Irish holidaymakers are taking some steps to cut their holiday costs.

However, the survey also reveals that many holidaymakers are not adequately protecting themselves.

Only a third (31%) check that their policy’s cancellation limit would cover the cost of their holiday if they had to cancel. Just under a third (32%) also fails to check that their luggage coverage is enough to cover the costs of lost or damaged luggage and contents.

Jason Whelan of Multitrip.com emphasised: “Holidays will always remain a top priority for people and when budgets are tight there are some creative ways to cut the cost. However, Travel Insurance is not one of them.”

With annual Travel Insurance policies starting at €19.95, there is no reason for anybody travelling abroad to not have a Travel Insurance policy” “We urge all holiday makers to purchase a policy as soon as they purchase their trip to ensure cancellation protection and properly research travel insurance options to make sure they have the right coverage to suit their needs.”
