“This the biggest innovation in the history of Lufthansa,” said Jens Bischof, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, at a press conference at ITB Berlin when a wide-sweeping range of initiatives by the airline were announced for 2105.
“As an airline, we are once again where Lufthansa belongs – namely in the leading group of international premium airlines. We are on the right track to becoming the first western 5-star airline, and day for day we offer the quality that other airlines can only speak of.”
From the third quarter of this year, all Lufthansa aircraft will be upgraded with the latest cabins and state of the art seats in every travel class. In addition the powerful FlyNet broadband Internet service will be available on all long-haul flights.
Business Class passengers will have “Business Class Restaurant service”, this will set new standards in in-flight service.The service will be modeled on the culinary experience provided by a high-class restaurant.Each flight attendant will have a set number of passengers for whom they will act as a personal host and point of contact.There will be additional cabin crew on long haul flights to enable this.
In Economy class there will be three new fare options Light,Classic and Flex,these will introduced for flights within Europe from Autumn 2015.the new fare is for passengers travelling with hand baggage only,whilst the Classic fare will permit one piece of luggage free and the right to reserve their preferred seat at booking.
The Flex fare has many services included , passengers will be allowed take an earlier flight on the day of travel with no surcharge,there is also the option to cancel and get a refund for a fee.Full details of the new fare options Economy Class on German and European will be announced when tickets go on sale this Summer.
The carrier also announced five new long haul “dream” destinations will be added this Autumn , these are Tampa,Cancun,Panama,Male and Mauritius.
