Aer Lingus will provide eight additional return flights from Cork Airport to Paris Charles de Gaulle for the month of June 2016, ahead of next summer’s European Championship in France. The extra services will mean an additional 1,400 seats available to Irish fans from 3rd to 27th June.
The Republic of Ireland will play their first match against Sweden in Paris’s Stade de France on Monday 13th June.
The extra flights are perfectly timed as the clamour for tickets has begun in earnest since last week’s draw for Euro 2016 where it was revealed that ‘The Boys in Green’ will also travel to Lille and Bordeaux to face Belgium and Italy on Saturday 18th June and Wednesday 22nd June respectively.
Niall MacCarthy, Cork Airport Managing Director, said: “The additional Paris flights with Aer Lingus is great news and timely for soccer fans ahead of the Republic of Ireland’s clash with Sweden in Stade de France, where many memorable moments in Irish sport have taken place.
“Ireland’s two other matches in Lille and Bordeaux are also easily accessible via train from the French capital, making the extra Paris services even more convenient. Soccer fans should also be aware that Cork Airport also offers flights to numerous destinations in France, which will facilitate ‘the Green army’ as they make their travel plans – all the details of which are available on Cork Airport’s brand new website.
“Everybody at Cork Airport wishes the Republic of Ireland team the best of luck and we have no doubt that every supporter will contribute to the special tournament atmosphere that our supporters are world famous for.”
