SK Energy – the largest energy refining company in South Korea and an industry leader in the Asia-Pacific region – has formally started exporting Sustainable Aviation Fuel to Europe, with its first delivery taking place this week.

The move is in response to the EU’s new mandatory SAF directive, where at least 2% of aviation fuel must consist of SAF. A similar policy has just come into force in the UK also.

SK Energy only began processing SAF last September.
