Donegal Airport has become the first Irish airport to achieve Level 4 Transformation in Airport Carbon Accreditation.
This achievement marks a very significant milestone in the airport’s sustainability journey, and has been awarded in recognition of its continuing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and aligning its operations with global climate goals.
Airport Carbon Accreditation is the only institutionally-endorsed, global management certification programme for airports.
It independently assesses and recognises the efforts of airports to manage and reduce their carbon emissions through 7 levels of certification: ‘Mapping’, ‘Reduction’, ‘Optimisation’, ‘Neutrality’, ‘Transition’ and ‘Level 5’.
Eilís Docherty, Managing Director Donegal Airport said: “The Chairperson, Board of Directors and Management of Donegal Airport are particularly proud at being the first Irish airport to achieve Level 4 ACA.
“This certification has been earned by the commitment of the airport staff and wider airport stakeholders to our published Net Zero ambitions and we will continue to work towards our interim goal of a 70% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and a long term target of Net Zero emissions across all scopes no later than 2050.”
