Wacky Trousers Could Win You €500 Voucher from Emirates at Irish Open

Wacky Trousers’ Day is back and the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation is anticipating a parade ring of the most unique and unusual golfing attire from golfers and fans alike. The organisers are inviting all spectators, young and old, to don their most flamboyant, fun or outright outrageous outfits on Friday 29th May to be considered for golf’s wackiest accolade and an opportunity to win a €500 voucher from Emirates.

Lots of European Tour runners-up prizes are also on offer to encourage visitors to get into the swing of things at Royal County Down. Judging will take place at the Emirates public marquee in the tented village on the Friday afternoon of the Tournament and judges will not only have two-time Major winner John Daly in mind when they make their selection but also Rickie Fowler’s colour palette and the unique style of Ian Poulter.

Irish Travel Trade News readers have until close of business on Tuesday 19th May to enter the Emirates/ITTN competition to win one of 10 pairs of tickets for the Irish Open – see ittn.ie .

Antonia Beggs, European Tour Championship Director, Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, said: “In terms of inspiration, spectators have no end of golfing role models from whom to choose and the judges will be looking out for lots of colour, eccentric style and eye-catching apparel.

“Our wacky trouser fashion spotters will be keeping an eye out for a worthy group of finalists, who will be invited to attend a finals parade. Think Cheltenham or the Galway Races – only wackier and much more fun.”

Taking place from 28th – 31st May, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, hosted by the Rory Foundation and supported by Tourism Northern Ireland, is expected to attract more than 80,000 spectators.

The 2015 Tournament plays host to a field featuring some of the world’s leading golfers including Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell, Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke, Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood, Rickie Fowler, Luke Donald, Patrick Reed and Martin Kaymer.

Irish Open tickets are on sale priced between £35 and £40 for an Adult Day Ticket. Children under 16 go free and must be accompanied by an adult and up to four children admitted free with one paying adult. Corporate Hospitality packages are currently available.
