United was named Best Worldwide Airline at the Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards 2012 on Friday night at the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa, Newcastle, Co Down, where Barry Jackson, the airline’s Account Manager Northern Ireland, also won Travel Trade Representative of the Year.
It is the sixth year in a row that United, which operates a year-round non-stop service from Belfast International Airport to its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, has been recognised as Best Worldwide Airline in the awards.
Barry was named Travel Trade Representative of the Year for a second time, after winning the award in 2010, and was joined by Yvonne Muldoon, Sales Manager Ireland, to accept both awards, which are based on votes by the Northern Ireland travel trade community.
Bob Schumacher, United’s Managing Director, UK & Ireland, said: “I would like to thank customers in Northern Ireland for continuing to support our Belfast – New York service as well as the travel trade who contribute so much to our success. Also, I take this opportunity to congratulate Barry and the team in Northern Ireland for doing a first-class job in challenging times.”
