Travel Agency of the Year Heats Up

A total of 27 travel agencies throughout the island of Ireland have been nominated for the ITTN Travel Agency of the Year Award 2015.

All 14 sponsors of this year’s Irish Travel Trade Awards were invited to nominate their top travel agencies in each of the four provinces of Ireland and a total of 27 agencies have been nominated – 10 in Leinster, seven in Munster, five in Connaught and five in Ulster. Four agencies (one in Munster, one in Connaught and two in Ulster) each received four nominations, while four other agencies (one in Leinster, two in Connaught and one in Ulster) each received three nominations.

The 27 agencies have been invited to make submissions on their recent and planned marketing innovations, as well as their use of websites and social media, along with photos of the agency exterior and interior.

All submissions will be assessed by a judging panel comprising Stephen Murray, Grant Thornton (non-voting Chair); Margaret O’Reilly, Tourism Ireland; Joan Scales, The Irish Times; and Michael Flood and Neil Steedman, Irish Travel Trade News; with ex-travel agent Sarah Slattery, ITTN (non-voting), contributing to the discussions.

The judges will determine a winner in each of the four provinces and then, from these four, an overall national winner. The four winning agencies will be announced in early October and will each be invited to bring two representatives, as guests of ITTN, to the Irish Travel Trade Awards on Friday 27th November 2015 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road, when the overall winner of the ITTN Travel Agency of the Year Award 2015 will be revealed.
