Sun Express, a 50/50 joint venture airline owned by Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, is doing a route feasibility study on a Dublin – Antalya year-round service. This has been triggered by the departure of Thomas Cook from the Irish charter market.Sun Express operates a fleet of 63 Boeing 737 aircraft and carried 6.7 million passengers and had revenue of €890 million in 2013.
Antalya has become a great golf destination with more than 15 courses available to visitors, a range of new hotels, and a growing medical tourism infrastructure. Add in beaches and sunshine and it is a leisure destination just waiting to greet more Irish visitors.
