Fresh strike threats at London’s Heathrow Airport are, reportedly, in danger of disrupting Easter Holiday travel plans for millions of passengers.
According to the Unite trade union, 1,400 security officers at the airport plan to launch a 10-day strike beginning on March 31.
The action is over pay conditions.
“Our members are simply unable to make ends meet due to the low wages paid by Heathrow,” Unite general secretary, Sharon Graham was quoted as saying.
However, Heathrow Airport has moved to soothe passenger fears by saying it will be able to cope with any disruption, adding that it has already offered the security staff a 10% pay increase.
“Passengers can be reassured that we have contingency plans which will keep the airport open and operational,” the airport said.
