Strictly Come Sailing…..with Irish Ferries

Strictly Come Dancing stars Erin Boag and Anton du Beke gave Irish Ferries reason to celebrate at the recent 2016 Group Leisure Awards in Birmingham when they presented the company with the ‘Best Ferry Operator’ award.

Voted for by readers of the UK’s Group Leisure Magazine, the award reflects Irish Ferries’ popularity within the coach and group market, which the company says is based on its “reliability and value, coupled with coach driver facilities, the support given to elderly and less mobile passengers, and extra services such as real-time sailing updates via its mobile-friendly website, and ship-wide wi-fi”.

No stranger to the winners’ enclosure, this is the second time Irish Ferries has been honoured with the award, having been a previous winner in 2012.

Accepting the award on behalf of her colleagues at the annual gala dinner, Marie McCarthy, head of Irish Ferries dedicated coach and groups department, pointed to Ireland’s attractiveness as a touring destination with its “easy access, variety of scenery, good-value accommodation and friendly locals”.

“The Wild Atlantic Way has already become a proven touring success and Discover Ireland’s latest project, the Ancient East, is bringing the history of the midlands and south-east to a new audience,” she said.
