South African Airways (SAA) has announced the opening of the VIA Lounge in the domestic departure area of OR Tambo International Airport (JNB). The lounge features ample and comfortable seating areas, fresh cuisine options, a rotating art gallery showcasing South African artists, a ‘Junior Pilots’ children’s area, runway views and high-speed Internet.
The new domestic lounge is in addition to SAA’s unique international arrivals lounge, ideal for passengers arriving from the UK who are connecting to a domestic flight. The international arrivals lounge offers customers the opportunity to freshen up and take a shower before making the short walk to the domestic terminal where, after clearing security, passengers can relax or catch up on work prior to their domestic connection.
In the VIA lounge (named because passengers travel via airports to new and exciting destinations) travellers will discover a sophisticated and welcoming space with subtle, earthy tones that complement the SAA colour palette and aircraft interiors. The plush seating fabric and texture create a link between the platinum and business lounge experience, while the visual language and local food expertly served by the VIA lounge crew celebrates the city of Johannesburg.
SAA business class, Voyager Lifetime Platinum, Platinum, Gold and Silver members, SAA Voyager/Nedbank Premium Credit Card, Star Alliance Gold members and Investec Private Bank Account cardholders have access to the lounge.
Operating hours for the lounge are 04.30 to 21.00 (weekdays) and 05.00 to 21.00 (weekends).
