Hi. I am flying in December to Auckland and was wondering can I bring my knitting through Dubai and on my flight? The DAA has said that it is ok to bring bamboo needles or circular ones through Dublin security; also, the TSA has lifted the ban on wooden needles. If you can forward me some information I would be very grateful.
Neil Steedman replies: I asked the Emirates office in Dublin and their Station Manager at Dublin Airport said: “There is no problem carrying knitting needles. Once there was, yes – but not anymore. The restriction has been relaxed. When passing through scanners the knitting needles should be removed from bags, just like a laptop, and placed visible in the tray.”
