Next summer Emirates will commence its shortest route ever – a five-minute ‘flight’ every 30 seconds at a dizzying height of 160 feet (49 metres) across the River Thames in London.
The ‘Emirates Air Line’ will be a 34-gondola cable car from Emirates Greenwich Peninsula (the O2) to Emirates Royal Docks (the ExCeL exhibition centre) and will feature on London Underground maps – in Emirates red, of course – in Emirates’ £36m 10-year sponsorship of the £60m project.
