Air France and KLM are celebrating after seeing their frequent flyer programme Flying Blue win four awards at the Freddie Awards 2015, including the prestigious ‘Programme of the Year’ award for the third year in a row.
Air France and KLM’s Flying Blue ranked as the highest performing programme across four categories, as well as receiving the highest overall ranking of 9.22 to secure the title of ‘Programme of the Year’. The programme also won the awards for ‘Best Elite Programme’, ‘Best Redemption Ability’ for the third consecutive year, and ‘Best Promotion within Europe and Africa’ markets.
The Freddies are considered the most prestigious consumer-generated awards in the travel loyalty sector. The awards are voted for by travellers around the world, who offer their opinion on which frequent flyer and hotel programmes offer the best value, with the most highly regarded programmes in the 10 categories for each global market receiving an award.
The Flying Blue programme has four membership levels offering a variety of benefits ranging from extra baggage allowance to extra legroom on a flight or priority check-in and fast-track lanes at the airport. One of the advantages for Air France-KLM UK passengers is that, unlike other carriers out of the UK, they do not pay to reach the hubs in Paris and Amsterdam. When they use their Miles to connect to Europe or the world, whether they commence their journey from one of the UK airports or directly at the hubs, the price they pay in Miles is the same.
Warner Rootliep, General Manager UK & Ireland for Air France-KLM, said: “We are delighted that our Flying Blue frequent flyer programme has been praised in this year’s Freddie Awards. We value the loyalty of our frequent fliers and are pleased to offer benefits that make a real difference to their travel experience with us – including upgrades, lounge access and extra legroom. We would like to thank everyone who voted for us this year, and look forward to continuing to improve and develop our award-winning Flying Blue programme. We hope this award will encourage even more passengers to join the programme and enjoy its benefits.”
