The airline now offers a year-round direct service between Dublin and Los Angeles with four services per week.

Los Angeles is a trend-setting global metropolis with an extraordinary history and a rich cultural heritage, offering vibrant multi-cultural neighbourhoods. It is known as the Entertainment Capital of the World and is home to renowned museums, along with 75 miles of sunny coastline. Whatever type of holiday your clients are after, Los Angeles, California, has it all, from sipping cocktails at Santa Monica Pier to enjoying some family time in Disneyland, hiking in the Hollywood Hills or seeing stars on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Fly from Ireland’s east coast to America’s west coast in just 11 hours direct and save time with US Customs and Immigration pre-clearance at Dublin Airport before departure.

Los Angeles is the first of three new transatlantic routes to commence this summer, marking the single largest expansion of Aer Lingus’s transatlantic network since the airline commenced transatlantic flying in 1958. From 1st September direct daily year-round flights will start from Dublin to Newark in New Jersey and in late September a four times weekly service from Dublin to Hartford, Connecticut, will begin.

The growth plan underpins Aer Lingus’s successful strategy of expanding its Dublin Airport base into a major European transatlantic gateway. The convenience of US Customs and Border Protection services at Dublin has enhanced the continued growth of Aer Lingus’s Dublin operation as a connecting gateway.

Keith Butler, Chief Commercial Officer, Aer Lingus, said: “We are delighted to commence our new direct service from Dublin to Los Angeles today. Los Angeles is our second US West Coast gateway after the successful launch of San Francisco in 2014. This summer Aer Lingus will operate 28 daily services across the Atlantic. Los Angeles, together with future new routes to Newark and Hartford, will open up new tourism and business opportunities with improved connectivity through our Dublin gateway.

“In addition, Los Angeles also adds to our onward connection network, providing connections to cities such as San Diego, Sacramento, Palm Springs and Las Vegas.”

This new route will not only connect Ireland with Los Angeles but will also connect a range of UK and European cities to the US West Coast. Customers in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Rome, Manchester, Edinburgh and many other European cities will be able to choose Aer Lingus to bring them to this exciting US destination.

Vincent Harrison, Dublin Airport Managing Director, said that he was delighted to welcome the launch of the new Aer Lingus service to Los Angeles. “This new direct service, which will offer additional choice and flexibility for passengers, is one of three new transatlantic routes that Aer Lingus is launching from Dublin Airport this summer in its largest ever expansion of transatlantic capacity.”

Services available to customers on transatlantic flights include Pre-clearance US immigration and customs at Dublin and Shannon airports, connections to onward destinations in the USA with airline partners, hi-speed Internet access, an extensive in-flight entertainment selection, gourmet meals including premium economy options, and award-winning cabin service.

Fares from Dublin to Los Angeles start from €299 for travel between 1st September and 31st October 2016.
