Waterford Listed in Top 52 Places to Visit in 2024 by the New York Times

Waterford continues to gain recognition as a must-visit destination, with its latest accolade coming from the esteemed New York Times.

The renowned publication recently included Waterford in its prestigious list of the top 52 places to visit in 2024, solidifying its position as a global travel hotspot.

Ranked 30th on the list, Waterford stands out as the only location from the UK and Ireland to be featured. Annelise Sorensen, writing for the New York Times, highlighted the county’s rich history and natural beauty as key reasons for its inclusion.

Ms Sorensen praised Waterford’s historic cobblestone core and its blend of ancient attractions with modern offerings, such as the newly opened Irish Wake Museum and the innovative Irish Museum of Time. She also emphasised the county’s stunning natural landscapes, particularly along the Copper Coast, which features towering cliffs and scenic coves.

This latest recognition adds to Waterford’s growing list of accolades, including being named Ireland’s most Christmassy county and appearing on Condé Nast Traveller’s list of Best Places to Visit in 2024 alongside Wexford.

For travellers seeking a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, Waterford offers a compelling destination worth exploring in 2024 and beyond.
