Five Spanish journalists – who have a combined reach of over 300,000 readers, as well as millions of readers online – have been exploring Ireland and its literary hotspots, as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism NI.
The journalists, who write for a Spanish magazine and various newspapers, are finding out more about one of Ireland’s literary greats, Oscar Wilde, who has connections with both Dublin and Fermanagh. Tourism Ireland’s aim is to highlight our rich literary heritage in Spain and inspire potential Spanish holidaymakers to visit the island and explore that heritage in 2025 and beyond.
The group’s action-packed itinerary features lots of places associated with the famous Irish writer and our literary heritage – including the Oscar Wilde Exhibition at the Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI), Marsh’s Library, the Oscar Wilde House on Dublin’s Merrion Square, the Book of Kells Experience and a guided Trinity Trails walking tour. In Fermanagh, the journalists will learn more about the Wilde inspired ‘In Our Dreams’ festival, which takes place in October, and explore the deep connections to the writer in the town of Enniskillen – by enjoying the ‘Follow the Swallow’ trail and taking a boat tour with Erne Water Taxi.
