Legendary Clonakilty Music Pub, De Barra’s Makes Lonely Planet’s 2025 Hot List

Legendary Co Cork bar and music venue, De Barra’s has been highlighted on the latest list of must-visit places by influential global travel guide, Lonely Planet.

Following on from its recent annual Best in Travel Guide, Lonely Planet has published its list of travel trends for 2025 – a list full of places to visit under the trend themes of music, nature, food and slow/relaxation travel.

While cross country train journeys in the US, birdwatching in Iceland, pristine beaches in Australia, cherry blossom fields in Japan and food markets in Thailand are all on the list, De Barra’s gets a special mention in the music category.

The Clonakilty venue – which, over the years, has hosted the likes of David Bowie, Glen Hansard, Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore, BellX1, Lisa Hannigan, and George Ezra to name just a few – was just one of four music experiences mentioned to witness this year – the others being Ho Chi Minh City’s Municipal Theatre; the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville; and the Rudolfinum in Prague.
