Ireland has been ranked Europe’s second most relaxing holiday destination in a new survey.
Based on a points-based index system – evaluating the number of hiking trails, spas, yoga/pilates centres and national parks per 100,000 people – Ireland ranked just behind Iceland in top place, with a score of 8.13 out of 10. Iceland scored 9.26 out of 10.
Surprisingly, Spain ranked 11th out of 15 countries, Denmark was 8th and Greece and Switzerland were joint 9th. The UK came in at number 13, with Finland just above it in 12th. Norway was deemed 6th most relaxing destination in Europe.
According to Slottracker, Ireland has the fourth highest number of spas per capita and three times the amount of national parks in the UK.
