FBD Hotels & Resorts Agrees to Buy Grand Hotel Malahide for €55m

FBD Hotels & Resorts has reached agreement to acquire the iconic Grand Hotel in Malaide, in north Co Dublin, for around €55m.

The acquisition – which is subject to competition regulator approval – will boost FBDH&R’s portfolio of hotels to seven.

The portfolio covers Ireland and Spain and already features Faithlegg Hotel, in Co Waterford; Killashee Hotel in Naas, Co Kildare; The Heritage, in Co Laois; Castleknock Hotel in Dublin; and the Spanish properties of Sunset Beach Club and La Cala, which are both located on the Costa del Sol.

The Grand Hotel Malahide has been owned by the Ryan family since 1974. It currently employs more than 200 people. The actual building dates back to 1835. Nowadays, it is a popular destination, conference and wedding venue.

FBDH&R plans to upgrade the Grand Hotel’s 202-bedroom, bar & dining, events, leisure, marketing, training and IT offering.
