
Caitlin Cotter, Food and Beverage Supervisor at Maldron Hotel Shandon, Cork City has been announced as the 2026 Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) Cork Branch ‘Employee of the Year’.
The announcement was made at an awards ceremony at Hayfield Manor Hotel, where guests gathered to celebrate and recognise 23 nominees from hotels and guesthouses across Cork who have made an outstanding contribution to their workplace.

Speaking at the event, IHF Cork Branch Chair, Eoghan Murphy said that, when selecting Caitlin as the winner, the judges highlighted her approach to team building, drive for efficiency of the hotel’s food & beverage service and passion for continuous learning within the workplace.
At the event, IHF President, Michael Magner congratulated all nominees and said: “Our nominees represent the very best of our profession that thrives on dedication, innovation and the development of its people. There has never been a better time to start a career in tourism and hospitality in a sector that supports 270,000 livelihoods across Ireland, including over 27,000 across Cork.”

Caitlin has worked at Maldron Hotel Shandon, Cork City for the last five years. She is the hotel’s ‘Heart of Hospitality Advocate’ which has made her a popular team member among customers and colleagues alike. Caitlin is the key person within the hotel for organising team building activities, which include bowling and ice skating among many others. Colleagues say, “Her initiative, leadership and dedication make her an invaluable asset to our team.”
