Ardal O’Hanlon-Fronted Travel Show, ‘The Emerald Isles’, Reaches Millions of Households in Britain

Millions of households across Britain are tuning into a new series about the islands off Ireland’s coastline.

The Emerald Isles – presented by actor and comedian Ardal O’Hanlon and airing weekly on BBC Two – was co-produced by Tourism Ireland

The three-part series, produced by One Tribe TV and Boulder Creek International, features stunning footage of Ireland’s dramatic landscapes, along with stories of island communities, from Rathlin Island off the north coast of County Antrim to Cape Clear Island off the south-west coast of County Cork. Ardal takes viewers on a fascinating journey unearthing the history, observing the wildlife and meeting the islanders trying to live in harmony with their extraordinary environment.

Episode one, which aired last Saturday, featured the islands of Rathlin, Tory and Arranmore. In episode two, airing tomorrow (22 March), viewers will learn more about the unique stories of the Aran Islands, Great Blasket Island, Valentia and Skellig Michael. Episode three will see Ardal finishing his adventure on some of Cork’s breathtaking islands – including Garnish, Sherkin and Cape Clear.

Judith Cassidy, Tourism Ireland’s Acting Head of Great Britain, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to support the filming of ‘The Emerald Isles’. With Ardal O’Hanlon’s unique storytelling, the series is showcasing the magic and spectacular beauty of our islands to millions of households in Britain – inspiring them to start planning their own visit.

“Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity to inspire potential British travellers about what Ireland has to offer for a holiday in 2025 and beyond.”
